Stem Cell Treatment for Autism

Autism is not a single disorder, but a spectrum of closely related disorders with a shared core of symptoms. Every individual on the autism spectrum has problems to some degree with social interaction, empathy, communication, and flexible behavior.

There is understandably a great deal of confusion about the names of various autism-related disorders. Some professionals speak of “the autisms” to avoid addressing the sometimes subtle differences among the conditions along the autism spectrum. Up to 2013, there were five different “autism spectrum disorders.”

The American Psychiatric Association attempted to simplify matters by combining the pervasive developmental disorders into a single diagnostic classification called “Autism Spectrum Disorder” in the latest edition of the diagnostic bible known as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

The three most common forms of autism in the pre-2013 classification system were Autistic Disorder or classic autism; Asperger’s Syndrome; and Pervasive Developmental Disorder. These three disorders share many of the same symptoms, but they differ in their severity and impact. Autistic disorder was the most severe. Asperger’s Syndrome, sometimes called high-functioning autism or atypical autism, were the less severe variants. Childhood disintegrative disorder and Rett Syndrome were also among the pervasive developmental disorders. Because both are extremely rare genetic diseases, they are usually considered to be separate medical conditions that don’t truly belong on the autism spectrum.

In large part due to inconsistencies in the way that people were classified, all of the above-named variants of autism are now referred to as “Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)” or another term "Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)".

Stem Cell Therapy has emerged as a new and unique way to treat ASD. This therapy is based on the unique ability of stem cells to influence metabolism and repair and restore damaged cells.

Stem cell therapy for autism in Malaysia is an ongoing topic of research and is considered experimental by the medical community. Parents can find fee-for-service clinics that advertise stem cell therapy for autism, but most of these clinics promote their own approach, which creates a lot of confusion among parents about how to compare their treatment options.

There are various stem cell products in the Malaysian market. However, not all of the products contain 'live' stem cells. For stem cells to stay alive, it must be stored in a 'liquid nitrogen storage'. For live stem cells to reach the target organ, it needs to be administered intra-venously or intra-muscularly. Stem cells that are taken by the oral route will be digested and broken down in the stomach.

Research has shown stem cell therapy to be safe and might be an effective treatment process which can help children with autism or with autism spectrum disorders of varied degrees. The sooner you can start the treatment, the better it will be for the child.

Stem Cell Therapy can derive the best results when it is combined with proper parental care and educational programs and some other methods like HBOT & GcMAF.

Cautionary Remarks

Stem cell therapy for autism is still considered a non-standard and an experimental treatment that is under research. When a clinic gives you promises that you will see gains, and/or claims that the same stem cell therapy can cure everything, run! In real medicine, results are not guaranteed and there are no cure-alls. Be wary of advice from people who have “done their research” by watching YouTube videos. Real research is published in peer-reviewed journals, and you can search the journals via PubMed or Google Scholar.
